Short biography

Salvatore Tabbone is professor in computer science at Université de Lorraine (France). He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Institut Polytechnique de Lorraine, France, in 1994 and the Habilitation degree in 2005. From 2007 to 2016, he was the Leader of QGAR team at LORIA Laboratory. Since 2010, he is the president of the scientific assocation GRCE (Groupe de Recherche en Communication Ecrite and he has been the leader of several national and international projects funded by French and European institutions. He is author/co-author of more than 100 articles in refereed journal and conferences. He serves as PC member for several international and national conferences.

His area is on pattern recognition methods to compute useful features for image and document indexing. His works belong to the image analysis field, and mainly to the document recognition community. His main contributions are in the area of algorithms and methods for image segmentation and recognition, shape recognition with a specific focus on images of graphics-rich documents (plans, architectural drawings, symbols, supermarket receipts...).


Current research topics:


From 2007 to 2016 he was the leader on a team of on graphics analysis and recognition (team QGAR).
