It seeks to anticipate technological and societal evolutions and enable a French (or European) exception on digital platforms that guarantee individual actors’ autonomy and foster care, trust, and digital well-being. The project’s key challenges stem from revisiting the socio-technical stack, which includes novel conceptual models and design frameworks for long-term collaborative practices and enabling fluid collective experiences that support interoperability and evolution.

Alvearium (Large Scale Secure and Reliable Peer-to-Peer Cloud Storage) (2022-2026) (Coordinator)
It is a challenge project (Défi Inria) between Inria and HIVE company. It proposes a peer-to-peer cloud that exploits the unused capacity of computers and incentivizes users to contribute their computer resources to the network in exchange for similar capacity from the network and/or monetary compensation. The system ensures the confidentiality of users data by fragmenting, encrypting and spreading it across the peer-to-peer network. The Inria COAST, COATI, MYRIADS, PESTO and WIDE teams participating in this challenge bring their expertise on aspects of reliable and cost-efficient data placement and repair in the case of node failures, collaboration on shared data, data security and management of malicious nodes in the context of unreliable distributed storage.

Deeptech project with Fair&Smart (2020-2024) (Inria’s Principal Investigator)
This project is funded by BPI and coordinated by Fair&Smart with CryptoExperts, Coast and READ teams as academic partners. The project aims to develop a platform for the management of personal data according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The computational personal trust model that we proposed for the repeated trust game and its validation methodology will be adapted for the Fair&Smart personal data management platform for computing trust between the different stakeholders of this platform. Our decentralized mechanism for identity certification relying on a blockchain will be also transferred to Fair&Smart for user identification for their personal data management platform.

USCOAST (User Studies on Trustworthy Collaborative Systems) Inria Associate team (2013-2018) (Principal Investigator)
This project focuses on the human evaluation of methods and algorithms for trustworthy collaborative editing. The project brings together expertise on distributed collaborative systems of SCORE team with expertise in user studies of Department of Psychology of Wright State University. I am the Principal Investigator for this associated team.

OpenPaaS::NG (2015-2019) (Responsible for the work package on secure and reliable peer-to-peer collaboration)
This project was financed by BpiFrance and involved French industrial leaders in open-source software development (Linagora,Nexedi, XWiki) and academic partners in collaborative work (COAST team) and recommender systems (DaScim team, LIX). The result of this project was the development of a French open-source new generation collaboration platform for enterprises that offers various secure collaboration modes (real-time, connected, disconnected, ad-hoc) over shared data, support for virtual meetings with automatic summary and recommendations. COAST team was responsible with the design of the peer-to-peer collaborative middleware.

Region Lorraine TVPaint (2016-2017) (Coordinator)
This project in collaboration with TVPaint Development financed by Region Lorraine contributed to the design of a collaborative system dedicated to animation movies that allows to manipulate high quantities of digital artifacts in a collaborative way.

Region Grand Est TVPaint (2017-2019) (Coordinator)
This was a follow-up project in collaboration with TVPaint Development financed by Region Grand Est. We designed and implemented a commercial product dedicated to 2D animation movies that can manipulate a large amount of data in a collaborative and secure manner. The new collaboration module included data sharing and orchestration of the different tasks according to different actors roles.

ANR STREAMS (Solutions for Peer-to-peer Real-time Social Web) (2010-2014) (Responsible for the privacy and security WP and the replication algorithms evaluation WP)
This project designed peer-to-peer solutions for real-time social web applications that eliminate the disadvantages of centralised architectures.

ANR ConcoRDant (CRDTs for consistency without concurrency control in Cloud and Peer-to-Peer systems) (2010-2014) (Participant)
This project investigated the Commutative Replicated Data Type (CRDT), i.e. a data type where all concurrent operations commute, a simple approach for ensuring eventual consistency that scales indefinitely.

Wiki 3.0 (2009-2012) (Inria’s Principal Investigator)
This project was financed by the call for projects « Web 2.0 » launched by the Minister of Economy in France (appel Web innovant du volet numérique du plan de relance). It extended the XWiki system to offer real-time editing and to integrate social interaction tools such as chat and micro-blogging. Partners of this project were XWiki SAS, INRIA and Mandriva.
