My research focuses on planning and control of generic robotic systems, with particular emphasis on underactuated multi-limbed robots with many degrees of freedom, such as humanoids. I am particularly interested in model-based optimization techniques and robotics-oriented software tools.<\/p>\n<p>Before INRIA, I was a post-doc at the Istituto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iit.it\/it\/\">Italiano di Tecnologia<\/a> (IIT) in Genoa, Italy, in the<a href=\"https:\/\/hhcm.iit.it\/\"> Humanoids and Human Centered Mechatronics<\/a> (HHCM) Research Line, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iit.it\/people-details\/-\/people\/nikos-tsagarakis\">Nikos G. Tsagarakis<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/advr.iit.it\/\">Advanced Robotics<\/a> (ADVR) Department, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iit.it\/it\/people-details\/-\/people\/darwin-caldwell\">Prof. Darwin G. Caldwell<\/a>. I obtained my Ph.D. at IIT and the <a href=\"https:\/\/unige.it\/en\">University of Genoa<\/a> in 2016. I also have experience in the industry, having worked as a senior researcher in humanoid robotics at <a href=\"https:\/\/pal-robotics.com\/\">PAL Robotics<\/a> in Barcelona, Spain, and later as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Unmanned Systems and Robotics group at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leonardo.com\/en\/home\">Leonardo S.p.A.<\/a> in Genoa, Italy.<\/p>\n<p>I have been serving as Associate Editor of the IEEE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee-ras.org\/publications\/ra-l\">Robotics and Automation Letters<\/a> (2021 &#8211; 2024) and the SAGE <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/home\/ijr\">International Journal of Robotics Research<\/a> (2023 &#8211; ongoing). <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">I am serving as Co-Chair (previously Corresponding Chair) and representative for the primary region of Europe for <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the IEEE <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieee-ras.org\/whole-body-control\">Technical Committee on Whole-Body Control<\/a> since 2021. <\/span>I served as Local Chair of IEEE-RAS HUMANOIDS 2024.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, I participated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.darpa.mil\/program\/darpa-robotics-challenge\">DARPA Robotics Challenge<\/a> finals within the <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/walkman-humanoid-robot-iit\">WALK-MAN Team<\/a>, being responsible for the whole-body control and simulation of the humanoid robot WALK-MAN.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Current projects:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/members.loria.fr\/EMingoHoffman\/merlin-2024-2028\/\">MeRLin<\/a>: Multi-limbed Robots empowered by whole-body Loco-manipulation<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurobin-project.eu\/index.php\">euRobin<\/a>: The European Excellence Network on AI-Powered Robotics<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cluster-ia-enact.ai\/\">ENACT<\/a>: Faire du Grand Est un leader europ\u00e9en de l\u2019intelligence artificielle (IA)<\/li>\n<li>LEG-AI: Joint lab between INRIA Nancy and UCL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Past projects:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/779963\">EUROBENCH<\/a>: EUropean ROBotics framework for bipedal locomotion bENCHmarking<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/advr.iit.it\/projects\/inail-scc\/teleoperazione\">ROBOT TELEOPERATIVO<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cogimon.eu\/\">CogIMon<\/a>: Cognitive Interaction in Motion<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/644839\/it\">CENTAURO<\/a>: Robust Mobility and Dexterous Manipulation in Disaster Response by Fullbody Telepresence in a Centaur-like Robot<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/walk-man.eu\/\">WALK-MAN<\/a>: Whole-body Adaptive Locomotion and Manipulation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am an ISFP (Inria Starting Faculty Position) researcher in INRIA Nancy Grand-Est and LORIA, working in the project-team HUCEBOT.
