Il enseigne divers aspects de l\u2019informatique et de l\u2019intelligence artificielle. Il a cr\u00e9\u00e9, au sein du laboratoire lorrain de recherche en informatique et ses applications (LORIA\/INRIA), l\u2019\u00e9quipe \u00ab Reconnaissance des Formes et Intelligence Artificielle \u00bb, comprenant plus de 80 chercheurs et qui a donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 plusieurs \u00e9quipes actuelles du laboratoire. Son domaine de recherche concerne est l\u2019\u00e9tude des processus perceptifs et cognitifs, dans leurs aspects th\u00e9oriques et appliqu\u00e9s : syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 bases de connaissances, mod\u00e8les stochastiques et mod\u00e8les neuromim\u00e9tiques, avec application \u00e0 la reconnaissance de la parole, l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation de signaux, l\u2019aide \u00e0 la d\u00e9cision.<br \/>\nJ-P. Haton est membre senior de l\u2019Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) o\u00f9 il a cr\u00e9\u00e9 la chaire \u00ab Mod\u00e9lisation informatique des processus perceptifs et cognitifs \u00bb.<br \/>\nIl est l\u2019auteur de plus de 300 ouvrages et articles et il a encadr\u00e9 ou co-encadr\u00e9 plus de 80 th\u00e8ses de doctorat.<br \/>\nJ-P. Haton est auditeur de l\u2019Institut des Hautes \u00c9tudes de D\u00e9fense Nationale (IHEDN, promotion 1993).<br \/>\nJ-P. Haton est membre de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Royale de Belgique et de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie Lorraine des Sciences<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Paul Haton is \u00ab agr\u00e9g\u00e9 \u00bb in physics (Ecole &gt;Normale Sup\u00e9rieure de Saint-Cloud) and \u00ab docteur d\u2019\u00e9tat \u00bb in sciences. He is presently Emeritus Professor in computer science at the Universit\u00e9 de Lorraine in Nancy. He teaches various aspects of computer science and artificial intelligence. He has created in LORIA\/INRIA the unit called \u201cPattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence\u201d which groups about 80 researchers who are now in different teams of the laboratory.<br \/>\nHis research field concerns the theoretical and applicative aspects of perceptive and cognitive processes: knowledge-based systems, stochastic models, neural nets. Application fields concern automatic speech recognition, signal interpretation, decision making.<br \/>\nJean-Paul Haton is a senior member of Institut Universitaire de France (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iufrance.fr\/\">IUF<\/a>) where he has created the chair entitled \u201cDigital Models of perceptive and cognitive processes\u201d.<br \/>\nHe has published more than 300 books and articles, and he ha&amp;s supervised, or co-supervised about 80 PhD theses.<br \/>\nJ-P.
