-Teaching :

- Research Associate (CR1) at CNRS, attached to the CNRS Institute for Biological Sciences, currently working full-time at the LORIA : Laboratoire Lorrain de Recherche en Informatique et ses Applications in Nancy (Present Director : Karl Tombre).
Since January 1st, 2015, I am a member of the CAPSID team (Team leader : Dave Ritchie). CAPSID stands for Computational Algorithms for Protein Structure and Interactions. I am in charge of developing algorithms and strategies for structural data mining to help modeling of complex protein-protein interactions.
From autumn 2003 to December 31st, 2014, I have been a member of the ORPAILLEUR team (Team leader : Amedeo Napoli). I have been involved in various projects dealing with biological data integration and mining for knowledge extraction.
In general, my research interests concern the application of knowledge representation and knowledge discovery methods to biological data. This means dealing with:

My motivation consist in exploiting at best the fabulous amount of data contained in the numerous heterogeneous biological databases existing today. My favored application domain concerns human genes and their relations to rare and multifactorial diseases. I am also interested in various other domains in which protein-protein interactions play an important role.

- Previous positions

From 1980 to 1989 at the Institut Jacques Monod in Dr. Anne-Lise Haenni's laboratory, dealing with plant viruses and molecular virology.

From 1990 to 2001 in Charles Auffray's laboratory in Nogent sur Marne then in Villejuif, dealing with neurotrophin genes and human genetics.

- Education

From 1977 to 1982, superior studies at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Sèvres-Ulm) in Paris, including :

In 1988, Doctorat d'Etat es Sciences (equivalent to the Habilitation).

In 2001, Master in Computer Sciences : DESS Informatique Double Compétence at the University Henri Poincaré .

-    Projects

- In 2014, I have coordinated with Professor Yves Moreau from Leuven University the 13th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB 2014 )that was held in Strasbourg, Palais de la Musique et des Congrès, Septembre 7-10, 2014. This was a full-time job in which we got wonderful and expert assistance from all the organizing committee and from many scientists from all over the world who acted as area chairs. Please see the editorial in Bioinformatics for more information. The conference was a big success with more than 1100 participants from 49 countries.

- From 2007 to 2013, I have been coordinating the Bioinformatics project "Modelling of Biomolecules and their Interactions" (MBI) that is financed by the Contrat de Projet Etat-Région : PRST-Lorraine "Modelling, Information and Numerical Systems (MISN)" (2007-2013).

- From December 2004 to December 2006, I have been coordinating the Bioinformatics project at Loria "Bioinformatique et Applications à la Génomique" financed by the Contrat de Plan Etat-Région : PRST-Lorraine "Intelligence Logicielle" (2000-2006). See the program of the conclusion seminar : Journée Bioinfo, September 28 2007.

-From 2004 to 2007, I have been the coordinator of a working group - seminar funded by the ACI IMPBio about Information Systems Integration in Biology (ISIBio). Read more : Groupe de Travail-Séminaire ISIBio . See also the final report (although in french :-( !).

-List of projects with associated software or interface (under construction)

- From 2007 to 2010, I have been a member of the Direction Teams of LORIA and of the Research Center INRIA Nancy - Grand-Est as animator of the transversal theme : "Computer Sciences and Living Sciences" ("Informatique et Vivant"). See my presentation (although in French !) at the laboratory evaluation by AERES, February 13, 2008.
