Current students



• Nathan Claudet.
  PhD student, October 2022 to September 2025 (co-advised with Simon Perdrix, Loria).
  Nathan is studying the combinatorial properties of the graph states (from quantum computing).


• Benjamin Testart.
  Master student, March to September 2022.
  Then PhD student, October 2022 to September 2025 (co-advised with Emmanuel Jeandel, Loria).
  Benjamin is working on the enumeration of pattern-avoiding inversion sequences.




Former students



• Aditi Muthkhod.
  Bachelor student from CMI (Chennai), May and June 2024.
  Aditi has been working on using (colored) generating trees and extensions of the kernel method to enumerate permutations avoiding Baxter-like patterns.


• Rachel Dufau-Sansot.
  Second year student at Ecole des mines de Nancy, September 2022 to May 2023 (for 1.5 days a week).
  Rachel has been working on the enumeration of permutations avoiding the vincular pattern 1-4-23. See her report (in French).

• Benjamin Izart.
  Second year student at Ecole des mines de Nancy, June to September 2021.
  Benjamin has been working on the relationship between decompoosition trees and interval posets of permutations. See our preprint on the Arxiv (joint also with Lapo Cioni).


• Jacopo Borga.
  Ph-D student, Sept 2017 to August 2021 (co-advised with Valentin Féray, Zurich).
  Jacopo has been working on a definition of (weak) local convergence for permutations, and on the properties of this notion of convergence, as well as on permuton limits of constrained permutations and related combinatorial objects.
  Jacopo's results are described in several papers (available on the Arxiv) and in his dissertation.
  Jacopo was awarded the Bernoulli Society New Researcher Award 2022 for his PhD work. After three years as Szegö Assistant Professor at Stanford (USA), Jacopo is now Assistant Professor at MIT (USA).


• Lucia Croci.
  Master student, September 2019 to May 2020.
  Lucia has been working on the enumeration of pattern-avoiding inversion sequences, gathering many results of the literature on the topic, and organizing them along methods of enumeration.

• Veronica Guerrini.
  Ph-D student, May 2015 to March 2018 (co-advised with Simone Rinaldi, Siena).
  Veronica has been working on sequences related to Catalan and Baxter numbers, and on functional equations for their generating functions.
  Veronica's results are described in several papers (available on the Arxiv) and in her PhD dissertation.


• Marc Egger.
  Master student, Sept 2016 to Sept 2017.
  Marc has been working on the relation between the problems of Permutation Pattern Matching and Induced Subgraph Isomorphism, in particular at the level of their computational complexity.
  Marc's results are described in his Master thesis report, available on Git Lab, together with the code implementing the algorithms in his thesis.


• Lisa Hofer.
  Ph-D student, Sept 2016 to March 2017 (co-advised with Valentin Féray, Zurich).
  Lisa has been working on a central limit theorem for the number of occurrences of vincular patterns in uniform random permutations. See her preprint on Arxiv.
  (Note: For personal reasons, Lisa decided to stop preparing her Ph-D after these few months.)
